Genuine Connection, Right at Home
Loneliness is one of the most significant challenges facing older adults in the UK today. Our CQC-registered companionship care service provides meaningful, regular visits — conversation, shared activities, and genuine human connection — for individuals who would benefit from a friendly, trusted presence in their life.
From a shared cup of tea to an afternoon walk, a good companionship carer brings warmth, laughter, and connection to a person's week. At Premier23, we treat companionship as a care service in its own right — taking the matching process as seriously as any other form of care.

Why This Matters
Loneliness Is a Serious Health Issue — and It Is More Common Than You Think
More than two million people aged over 75 in the UK live alone. For many, days can pass without a single meaningful conversation. This is not simply a social problem — it is a health crisis. Research consistently links chronic loneliness to increased risk of dementia, depression, heart disease, and premature death. The impact of isolation on physical and mental health is comparable to smoking 15 cigarettes a day.
Loneliness in older adults is often invisible. People do not always ask for help — and family members, however caring and well-meaning, are not always able to provide the frequency of visits that their loved one truly needs. A companionship carer is not a replacement for family; they are a complement to it — extending the warmth and engagement that matters so much.
At Premier23 Care Services, we treat companionship as a care service in its own right — not an add-on to something else. A well-matched, consistent companionship carer can genuinely change the texture of someone's daily life. We take the matching process as seriously as we do for any other form of care.
“A warm conversation, a shared cup of tea, a familiar face at the door. For someone living alone, these are not small things. They are everything.”

Who We Support
Who Benefits From Companionship Care?
Companionship care is suitable for a wide range of individuals and circumstances. It can stand alone as a service, or complement other care visits as part of a wider arrangement.
Older Adults Living Alone
For those whose family lives at a distance or who have lost a spouse or close friends, regular companionship visits provide meaningful social interaction and a trusted, familiar presence.
Those Experiencing Bereavement or Loss
Grief can profoundly deepen isolation. A warm, non-judgemental companion provides space to talk, to remember, and to feel less alone — without the pressure of family expectations.
People in the Early Stages of Dementia
Social engagement and mental stimulation are clinically beneficial in early dementia. A consistent companionship carer provides both — maintaining connection and cognitive activity.
Those Recovering From Illness or Hospital
Returning home after illness or hospital can feel isolating. Companionship visits restore a sense of normality, boost mood, and provide reassurance during recovery.
Individuals With Limited Mobility
Those who find it difficult to leave home or access community activities benefit greatly from a carer who brings the social world to their door.
Family Members Who Cannot Visit as Often
Families living at a distance or with busy lives often carry guilt about the frequency of visits. Companionship care fills that gap — not replacing family, but complementing it.
Beyond the Visit
The Ripple Effect of Regular Companionship
The benefits of regular companionship care extend far beyond the visit itself. Research into social prescribing and befriending services consistently demonstrates that regular positive social interaction produces measurable improvements in mental health, physical health, and overall wellbeing.
Improved Mental Health
Regular visits are associated with reduced rates of depression and anxiety in older adults
Better Physical Health
Social engagement has been linked to lower blood pressure, improved immune function, and reduced hospital admissions
Increased Sense of Purpose
Having a trusted visitor to look forward to provides structure, anticipation, and a sense of being valued
Early Detection of Concerns
A consistent carer notices changes in mood, behaviour, or physical condition that might otherwise go unnoticed

How It Works
Four Simple Steps
Tell Us About Your Loved One
Call us on 01256 338456 or complete our form. We take time to understand the individual — their interests, their background, what they enjoy, what they find comforting.
We Find the Right Match
We match your loved one with a companionship carer whose personality, interests, and conversational style are genuinely compatible. This is not a quick process — and it should not be.
An Introduction Visit
We arrange an initial introduction visit so that your loved one meets their carer in a low-pressure way. If the match feels right, regular visits begin. If not, we find an alternative.
Regular Visits Begin
Visits start on the agreed schedule — whether weekly, twice weekly, or more frequently. We review the arrangement regularly and welcome feedback from both the individual and their family.

Flexible Care
Companionship Care Alongside Other Support
Companionship care does not have to stand alone. Many of our clients receive companionship visits as part of a broader care arrangement — combined with personal care, medication support, or domestic help on the same visit. We design care plans around the whole person, not individual service categories.
Companionship + Personal Care
A single visit combining conversation and social engagement with assistance for morning or evening routines.
Companionship + Meal Preparation
Company and a prepared meal — supporting both social wellbeing and nutritional needs in one visit.
Companionship + Shopping & Errands
Accompanied shopping trips or errands — providing both practical help and meaningful community access.
Client Stories
What Our Clients Say
“My mother has not had a close friend nearby since she lost her husband three years ago. We were worried about her — she was quiet in a way she never used to be. When Premier23 arranged her companionship carer, the change was gradual but remarkable. She talks about her visits all week. She laughs again. I cannot overstate how much that means to us as a family. It is not just a service — it is a lifeline.”
